Casa Español: Your affordable intimate wedding venue in Quezon City

If you are looking for a convenient and affordable venue for an intimate wedding (80 guests and below), Casa Español in Quezon City is the place to go.

My husband and I got married here in 2016, and Ms. Ross, the owner of Casa Español was very accommodating and helpful in making our dream wedding come true. Since Jek and I opted to have a garden wedding, we scouted for a venue months before the date, and we found out that some venues offer rentals only, but Casa Español offered so much more.

For more or less 140,000 pesos, Ms. Ross provided us with delicious food for 110 guests (though less than 100 came). The package also included a complete set-up of the place with our chosen theme (rustic), flowers, foldable wooden white chairs, presidential table and they included the wood art of our names which my husband made ^__^.

This was the rustic set-up during our wedding. Our theme was purple and blue (pastel), and Ms. Ross followed what we wanted. She even incorporated our love for books in the set-up. We also had our DIY props, and she allowed us to use them and helped us in setting-up those props (the hashtags and the cards seen in the lower right photo).

These were the wood art that my husband made. If you are interested in giving this kind of wood art as a gift to someone, feel free to email or text us! 🙂

We also asked Ms. Ross if we can have a space for the ceremony where the secondary sponsors, brides’ and grooms’ friends, primary sponsors and our parents can sit. Though the place was quite small, she made it possible. The other guests were seated in their respective tables.

Aside from this, I believe that for the bride, the walk is very important, and though my walk is rather irregularly shaped, our videographers and photographers hand plenty of time to shoot while I was doing my entrance. I also really wanted to have a closed door/gate for this, and Casa gave me that effect. 🙂 The venue also has a place where you can have your photos displayed. You just have to print them, and Ms. Ross’s staff will put them on display. Your guests can look at the photos before the ceremony or during the reception.

The package included the sound system with technician, projector and screen, the set-up for the wine and cake (cake was c/o Lovin’ Oven, we brought our own wine), very helpful waiters, honeymoon fund jar (for the monetary gifts), the doves (rent only), the candles, bubble machine (for the bride), and the photo booth set-up! Here are some of the photos:

Lastly, the place was very solemn and majestic, that our photos and videos easily reflected its charm! Sharing with you some of the shots here:

It was truly a blessed and wonderful wedding, and it will not be possible without Casa Español and our other suppliers (will post about them in another entry).

Thank you so much Ms. Ross of Casa Español and all your hard-working staff. 🙂

Garden Weddings. Finding a Venue in Manila.

In my last post, I was able to share with you one of the places Jek and I visited during our search for the perfect wedding venue. Our  budget  was PhP 20,000. Our theme is outdoor rustic-garden. Here is another site we visited:

Puerta Real Gardens

Puerta Real Gardens is located just outside the walls of Intramuros. Puerta Real actually means “real door” in Spanish. It was very spacious, breezy, historical. It costs only PhP 30,000 plus 10% of the catering contract. They have a comfort room for the “Lakan” and “Lakambini.” They also have lights in the trees at night.

Pros:

Proximity. Manila is very accessible for most guests.

Very spacious. For couples with many guests, this can be a perfect venue for you! It has other spaces also that are pictorial-friendly.

Parking Space. It has a parking space just outside the main entrance.

Tunnel. The tunnel can be a perfect addition to your wedding video.

Over-all Feel. It’s like you’re not in Manila.

CR. There’s ample CR for your guests, but you would not have a space to change/retouch for reception.

A view of the Manila Skyline in the area.

Cons

Canal. The canal upon entrance is not a very nice view and it can be quite smelly.

Weather threat. If it rains, you should have stand-by tents for your guests – which will be additional costs.

Cost. For us, it might be quite expensive because of the 10% cost of catering.

Venue Hunting. Budget-friendly. Beautiful. Breath-taking.

After browsing wedding ideas on the internet, Jek and I’s first step is to find a venue.

We had a budget (PhP 20,000), a theme outdoor rustic-garden, and a common vision for the wedding. We started scouting for possible venues in June. What we did was browse through the internet and find possible venues there. We visited the short-listed ones. Here is one of them:

  1. Casa Manila Patio

Casa Manila Patio is located at Intramuros just in front of the San Agustin Church. Given its historical and Spanish period ambience, we wanted to give it a visit… and also renting the venue as beautiful as this costs only PhP 12,000 plus 10% of the catering contract.

Pros:

Proximity. Manila is the center of our guests who will be coming from Bulacan, Makati, Antipolo, QC and Manila Area.

Affordability. 12,000 plus 10% catering fee is definitely affordable considering that the venue is in the middle of Intramuros. Also, it would fall within our budget.

Spanish-garden. The Spanish-garden theme is also very nice to look at. It is very nostalgic and a bit magical.

Cons

Space. Though it is stated that the maximum capacity is 150 pax (our target guests), the place seems to be too small.

Aisle. For us, the walk to the altar is one of the highlights of the wedding, and given that there is a fountain in the middle of the place it would be difficult to create a perfect aisle.

Jek and Grace 2016

12 years after Jek and I met (4 of which as a couple), he asked me to be his wife last May.. and I agreed.

So, what’s next? We are now planning our wedding which we tentatively scheduled for June 2016. As we were trying to browse for possible wedding venues and other ideas, I usually got more information from blog posts of soon-to-be brides like myself. Their posts have been very useful that I wanted to replicate the help that they have given to engaged couples in terms of preparing their wedding.

Hence, I am starting this blog to share with you our 1 year journey towards one of our most-awaited day – our wedding. Update you soon!
